Sourcing Intern
We are looking for a Sourcing Intern for our Westbury, NY facility. In this role you will receive hands-on experience in Upstream Sourcing processes, supporting the team in activities such as new supplier identification, RFI/RFQ coordination, quote collection and basic analysis, and documentation support for supplier selection. You will assist in sample order tracking, supplier communication, and data- entry related to vendor changes. The role will also involve supporting risk analysis efforts and learning how sourcing decisions are prioritized based on supply risk. In addition, you will assist with tactical buying tasks for Westbury direct materials, including PO creation, follow-ups, and supplier confirmations under the guidance of the sourcing team.
Your Responsibilities:
- Assist in identifying potential new suppliers through online research, databases, and supplier directories
- Support the preparation and distribution of RFIs and RFQs to suppliers; track responses and organize data for review
- Help perform basic quote comparisons and support supplier selection documentation
- Coordinate and follow up on sample requests and deliveries with suppliers and internal teams
- Assist in updating supplier records and maintaining sourcing documentation and databases
- Support the vendor change process by gathering required sourcing-related documents and tracking progress
- Aid in preliminary risk assessments and help prioritize vendor changes based on supply risk inputs
- Provide administrative and tactical support in direct material buying for the Westbury site, including PO creation and follow-up on open orders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Planning, and Production as needed
- Participate in meetings and follow up on sourcing-related action items
Your Profile:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
- Basic understanding of procurement and sourcing concepts, including RFQ, RFI, and supplier selection
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Excel functions like VLOOKUP, PivotTables is a plus. Exposure to ERP systems (i.e. SAP) is an added advantage
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for supplier and internal team coordination
- Detail-oriented with good organizational and time management abilities
- Willingness to learn and take initiative in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
- Previous internship or coursework related to supply chain or procurement is a plus but not required
- Organization- able to manage their own time and maintain record of multiple sourcing projects and current status
- Communication- ability to prepare small presentations to the team, communicate cross functionality to peers and superiors
