We are looking for a Temporary Machinist C for our Westbury, NY facility. In this role you will perform intricate manufacturing parts using manual and computerized machining operations to fabricate parts and components for a wide variety of systems.

Your Responsibilities:

• Works from blueprints and specific instructions to machine and fabricate standardized parts and assemblies.
• Operates one of the machine tools, such as lathe, milling, grinding and drill press using available jigs and fixtures.  Adjusts feeds and speeds for materials being machined to specific tolerances.
• Performs bench operations on machine parts using standard hand-tools such as scrapers, files and stones.
• Use all machine shop measuring and gauging devices to align and/or machine metal, or plastic parts to meet required specifications.
• Operate and maintenance machine in optimal operation following maintenance schedule (TPM).
• Keeps tools and work area in a safe, clean and orderly manner. (5S routines)
• Use all prescribed personal protection equipment (PPE) where deemed necessary; Follow established environmental, health and safety policies, procedures and work instructions associated with assigned duties and work location.
• Performs other duties as required.

Your Profile:

• Knowledge equivalent to high school, with six months to one year technical and apprenticeship training, plus 1 to 3 years experience performing machining or sheet metal operations. 
• Should be able to use and understand shop mathematics.

Oerlikon is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position, which is $20.00 to $23.00 per hour Some positions within Oerlikon may also offer eligibility to participate in a discretionary incentive program.
