Strategic Account Manager

We are looking for a Strategic Account Manager, End-User & Defense for our Chicago facility. In this role you will be responsible for generating new business in strategic End-Users on Defense and other key Industries, monitoring industry developments, and developing a roadmap for our applications to achieve Oerlikon’s strategic goals. This position will collaborate with multiple stakeholders within Service Business, coordinate End-User targets and activities and generate business in all Product lines.
- High-level networking with senior management within targeted customers (End-Users) to develop strategies and business plans to grow Service solutions in all Product Lines.
- Managing commercial and technology aspects to align customer needs with current and to be developed future Service Applications, Develop Strategic Account plans.
- Drive Revenue growth by establishing robust project pipeline with different End-User customers and across all Service offerings
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain trust relationships with a portfolio of major clients to ensure they do not turn to competition.
- Acquire a thorough understanding of key customer needs and requirements.
- Expand relationships with existing customers by continuously proposing solutions that meet their objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., sales, marketing, product development) to deliver tailored solutions.
- Representative of the Service Business in the End User, focus on understanding customer demand and value generated activities to the customer.
- Product and Service Portfolio Definition: Define the product and service portfolio for specific customers, coordinate activities with Business development, TAMs and Product Managers
- Industry Trends and Customer Strategic Roadmap: Capture Defense Industry trends relevant to Services to develop a multifaceted strategic roadmap to customers, coordinate activities with siter companies and different production sites in North America.
- Value-Add Selling Approach: Develop a value-add selling approach/business model in alignment with sales excellence in conjunction with operational capabilities.
- Focus on Customer service and creation of additional new business in new Industries segments, in all Coating applications, Cutting Tools, Forming Tools and components.
- Additional focus beyond Defense would be Medical, Aerospace, Energy, first in the tooling business and as possible in Components
- Identify and develop strategic relationships with potential and existing key clients.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to maximize profit.
- Ensure the timely delivery of products or services to strategic accounts.
- Manage and resolve any issues and conflicts with strategic accounts to ensure client satisfaction.
- Major Service Account Ownership: Take ownership of major Service accounts (SAM)
- Lead Regional KAMs: Support on KAM major Cutting tools OEMs
- C-Level Networking: Engage in C-level networking within the SAM to drive top-down and bottom-up innovation.
- Develop a comprehensive strategy for End-Users and Defense accounts
- Drive GSR growth.
- Establish an effective network to serve global customers with SAM and KAM.
- Achieve growth in the defense sector significant above market growth (overall market growth of for the sector.
- Comprehensive strategy for participating in the defense sector, including the definition of key customers, application roadmap in cooperation with the business lines, and a quantitative five-year plan.
- Achieved GSR growth in the End-User exceeding market growth.
- Established an effective Sales network to serve global customers with SAM and KAM.
- Formal and informal leadership acumen across Industries and product lines
- Transformation of driving skills

Your Profile:
- Strong customer orientation.
- International experience in business and marketing strategy development with strategic, analytical, and conceptual strengths.
- Dedicated and convincing personality, capable of establishing effective working relationships with diverse personalities, regardless of formal structures.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to engage and integrate others.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, open, and positive mindset with experience in international and cross-cultural business environments.
- Proficiency in English is compulsory.
- 5 years or more experience on Tools coating business with proof record of business acquisition

Oerlikon is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position, which is $225k per year. Some positions within Oerlikon may also offer eligibility to participate in a discretionary incentive program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for the role will be based on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, internal equity, job location, work experience, education, training, certifications, licenses, etc. Therefore, as compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each individual, it is likely that not all applicants will be hired at the highest end of the listed compensation range. Our total compensation package goes beyond base compensation and it will include a competitive benefits package starting with 2 weeks paid time off accrued on a monthly basis, 12 holidays, 48 hours personal/sick time (exception for NY where we follow State law,) medical, dental, vision, 401K, holidays, pet insurance and tuition reimbursement all effective day one of hire.
