Sustainment Project Engineer
Purpose of the role:
- PSP engineer responsible for coating equipment over their entire lifecycle, including documentation.
- Keep the bill of material (BOM) and documentation of coating equipment up-to-date
- Planning (strategic and operative) and realisation of PSP projects, while taking budget, cost and timeline into account.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Product Sustainment
- Responsibility of coating equipment over their entire lifecycle, including documentation
- Keep the bill of material (BOM) and documentation of coating equipment up-to-date
- Planning (strategic and operative) and realisation of LCM projects, while taking budget, cost and timeline into account
- Support and co-operate with various interal departments
- Develop and implement substitution strategy for end-of-life (EOL) components in coating equipment
- Use and implement globally valid norms and guidelines
- Further develop safety enhancements in line with CE Conformity
- Coordination of upgrades and retrofits of coating equipment worldwide
- Provide 2nd level support in troubleshooting
- Lead projects in developing retrofits
2. Advice and support
- Training and supervision of new employees
- Coordination & supervision of external partners
- Ensure that Balzers/Metco standards are met.
- Consulting and support for other departments
- Continuously develop technology knowledge and train internally in teams
- Participation in the maintenance of parts list (Windchill / SAP)
Required Education, Experience & Knowledge:
- Engineering Degree in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics
- Minimum 6- 8 years of work experience in the field of machine building, troubleshooting & Industrial automation.
- Several years of professional experience in a technically similar position
- Good Project management skills, should be able to handle projects individually.
- Good understanding of business processes
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Work experience in vacuum, coating, or machinery construction industry preferred.
- Experience in ePLAN Electric P8, SAP & Windchill.
- Good knowledge of latest Siemens Controls like MicroBox IPC, S7-1500 PLC.
- Customer-oriented, able to work under pressure, organized/structured and good interpersonal skills.
- Teamwork spirit and hard working
- Fluent English language (oral and written). Knowledge of German language would be added advantage.
- Good working knowledge of MS-Office
- Willingness to travel worldwide (10 – 30%)
