Data Engineer 
 

 

Purpose of the role

  • In the context of the introduction of “Oerlikon One Data Platform” (ODP), there is a high need for expertise in data engineering (Microsoft environment Azure Data Factory/Fabric). The purpose of this position is to deliver and maintain “Data Products”, i.e. solutions making data from different sources available for usage.

    The holder of this position is responsible for analyzing business requirements, transferring them into solution concepts and implementing those on the Microsoft based cloud data platform. Maintenance and support work for the data platform is part of the position too.

 

 

Job Title: Data Engineer

 

 

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information technology or similar
  • Certification in Microsoft Azure Data Factory and/or Fabric

 

 

Required Experience & knowledge

  • Proven track record of at least 4 years of work experience in roles related to data management and analytics. This can include roles such as data engineer, data architect and similar
  • Experienced in multinational and geographically distributed work environments
  • Data Modeling & Design: Proficiency in data modeling methodologies and tools. This includes understanding of concepts such as normalization, and experience in designing entity-relationship diagrams and data flow diagrams
  • Data Technologies: Experience with cloud data platform solutions including data storage, integration tools and frameworks, data management and data governance products.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with DevOps principles and tools, and how to use them in a data management/analytics environment. This includes knowledge of CI/CD on Azure and GitHub.
  • Proficiency in English (C1 or higher)
  • Analyze business requirements related to data management and analytics
  • Develop solution concepts, following guidelines, templates and best practices
  • Implement data management solutions, incl. integration, transformation, data modelling and storage on Microsoft
  • Deliver maintenance to developed solutions

  • Compliance of developed solutions with guidelines, security and data protection requirements
  • High satisfaction of stakeholders towards performance and quality of delivered solutions

    • Role is crucial for achieving Oerlikon’s ambitious objectives towards data drivenness and digitalization in general
    • Influences directly the quality and speed of delivering data products to the organization
