HSE Coordinator
Duties & Responsibilities
- Development and Implementation of HSE Policies: creates, updates, and monitors health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
- Receives the Group strategy from the Executive Committee and verifies its implementation at the coordinated sites
- Assist the employer (Datore di Lavoro) as the Safety Manager (RSPP) of the Tirano plant and as a Safety Assistant (Assistente della Sicurezza) of the Mendrisio one
- Compliance with Regulations: ensures that the company complies with all local, national, and international health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Reviews and monitors internal and external environmental communications
- Keeps abreast of current legislation and applies new requirements to the Coordinated Sites
- Manages the preparation of the Periodic Safety Meeting according to article 35 of Legislative Decree 81/08, both for Mendrisio and Tirano sites
- Organizes and conducts training sessions for staff on HSE topics
- Identifies, assesses, and mitigates risks associated with business operations
- Conducts investigations into workplace injuries and incidents, determines causes, and implements preventive measures
- Prepares periodic reports on HSE performance and maintains necessary documentation
- Promotes a company culture oriented towards health, safety, and environment through initiatives and campaigns
Output & Key Result Areas
- Informs the HSE management about the results of safety and environmental audits in the company (internal, second and third party) and in the supply chain of the coordinated site
- Application of the necessary safety measures resulting from risk assessments and the analysis of significant environmental aspects
- Prevention of accidents, injuries, occupational diseases and work-related health problems and for the remediation of hazardous areas
- Analysis of the causes of accidents, injuries, near misses, property damage, dangerous and/or unhealthy situations and behaviors across all business functions
- Identifies potential and actual areas of improvement and assists in setting and formulating goals and tools for their achievement
- Ensures that the company safety expectations are communicated to the workforce
Interface, Collaboration, Stakeholders
- Verifies/coordinates the application of the company and intercompany safety plans as well as HSE standards at the coordinated sites (Mendrisio and Tirano)
- Collaborates with the site in the development of operational, health and safety instructions for the coordinated sites
- Promotes synergetic information exchange with the coordinated sites and the Group HSE department
- Assists the sites with HSE certification and second party audits
Required education, experience, knowledge
- Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety. Equivalent work experience is also highly recommended for this position
- RSPP / ASPP certificates (modules A, B and C) are mandatory
- SLPS safety assistant and SLPS specialist certificates are preferred
- Stays up to date on the latest HSE regulations and technologies improvement and safety excellence
- At least 3 years’ experience
