Quality Engineer 

 

We are looking for a Quality Engineer for Lake Orion, MI facility. In this critical position you will provide leadership and a hands-on approach to problem-solving to ensure customers are fully satisfied with the company’s service. The Quality Engineer will report to the Area Quality Manager and maintain the quality system within the Lake Orion Center.

Your Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain quality management system under ISO 9001 standard in the center 
  • Report daily quality issues in the center
  • Track cost of non-quality (CONQ) and other KPIs
  • Work with the team to find root cause(s) and define preventive and corrective actions
  • Create and share quality technical reports with the customer
  • Define disposition of non-conforming product as required, including communication with customers regarding quality issues
  • Handling customer complaints
  • Conduct monthly quality circle meetings
  • Daily, weekly and yearly gauge verification/calibration
  • Resolve quality issues through root cause analysis and problem-solving processes (PSP) and help with continuous improvement activities
  • Support Document Control
  • Support quality audits as scheduled (ISO9001), 6S audits and drive 6S initiatives
  • Facilitate local quality planning and development of work instructions for customer-specific requirements
  • Provide training and support to employees on all quality concerns and customer complaints
  • Crosstrain into various departments within the production facility
  • Create credit memos

 

 

Your Profile:

  • Minimum 4-year degree in Quality, Engineering, or related discipline or experience substitutes education
  • Proven experience with quality core tools (SPC and Failure Analysis)
  • 2+ years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing and/or production environment preferred
  • 2+ years of experience implementing and executing ISO 9001
  • Proficient use of MS Office (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access) is required
  • Ability to effectively use problem-solving tools such as Pareto Charts, SPC methodologies, cause and effect diagrams as well as 8D or similar problem-solving experience
