
Intern for Automation Cutting Tools (R&D)
Are you passionate about automation, intelligent systems, and advanced manufacturing? Join our R&D team and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that combine machine tools, automation, image processing, and artificial intelligence.
As an intern, you will work on cutting-edge projects focused on automating machining tests and developing intelligent wear analysis systems. You will collaborate with experienced engineers and researchers in a multidisciplinary environment while gaining valuable hands-on experience.
Duration: 6 months (start upon agreement)
Your Responsibilities
- Improve, design, implement, and test hardware and software systems used for the automated execution of cutting tests
- Enhance system connectivity, reliability, and functionality to expand its range of applications
- Develop and implement wear detection algorithms for the automated evaluation of microscope images
- Integrate image analysis solutions with existing hardware and software platforms
- Support the design and execution of machining tests targeting specific wear mechanisms and machining phenomena
- Analyze experimental data and contribute to the continuous improvement of R&D processes
Your Profile
- Studies in Mechanical, Automation or Production Engineering (current enrollment is required – only students)
- Strong interest in experimental mechanics, machine tools, automation, and artificial intelligence.
- Experience in programming is an advantage.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate within multidisciplinary R&D teams
- Very good English skills, German an advantage
