
Machinist I (2nd Shift)
We are looking for a Machinist I our Huntersville facility. In this role you will be responsible for executing production order requirements and instructions on to manufacture products. Oerlikon Additive Manufacturing (AM) produces high-quality components for a variety of industries, including Aerospace, Defense, Oil and Gas, and Semiconductors. Through the use of metal additive 3D printers, we manufacture complex metal prototypes or series parts rapidly and without any tooling. The Machinist is a critical member of the production team. As part of the Oerlikon Additive Manufacturing team, you will truly be part of a small segment of people revolutionizing the manufacturing of components using cutting edge technology.
This is a second shift position with core hours 2:00pm – 10:30pm.

Your Responsibilities:
- Assist in setting up machines (CNC, manual lathes, mills, grinders, etc.).
- Operate machines under supervision to perform basic cutting, drilling, grinding, threading, and milling tasks.
- Learn to read blueprints and work from detailed drawings and specifications.
- Inspect parts for quality and tolerances using basic measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow standard operating procedures for machining and safety.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
Your Profile:
- Ability to work in a team-based collaborative environment where priorities may shift regularly
- The ability to troubleshoot operational issues and relay information to the team is a must
- Experience working with basic shop tools and hand tools required
- Good verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to wear a respirator when applicable
- Ability to lift 30 lbs
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of CNC machining processes (gaining practical skills).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (or willingness to learn).
- Knowledge of GD&T symbols or willingness to learn (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
- Strong attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of measurement tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team.
- Basic understanding of machine tools (milling, lathe, drill presses, CNC)
- Experience with SAP, or other shop floor data management systems
- In compliance with U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
