Application Engineer Temp 

We are looking for an Application Engineer Temp for our Huntersville, NC facility to support the business in a short-term temporary assignment. In this role you will work for the Commercial Team to evaluate customer requirements for Additive Manufacturing, develop metal AM solutions, and prepare technical responses and proposals. You will have technical ownership of customer opportunities as directed by the Head of Commercial in coordination with Business Development and Program Management, and will collaborate with Engineering and Operations to ensure customer requirements are well defined, achievable, and documented.

 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support the Commercial Team in business capture
  • Partner with the Business Development team to meet customer expectations
  • Evaluate customer metal component applications and develop AM solutions
  • Engage in customer communication and coordination of customer quotes and projects as directed
  • Communicate internally to align on project scope, deliverables, initial routing and draft timeline for development programs
  • Review customer requests for quotes and proposals and prepare technical evaluations and responses
  • Assist with technical contract review
  • Support transition of customer opportunities to the manufacturing engineering team
  • Ensure technical compliance of customer PO’s to Oerlikon AM’s Quality Management System
  • Discuss and resolve technical issues with customer projects
  • Attend customer meetings as required

 

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in metal additive manufacturing
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Willingness to travel to visit customers and attend conferences (approx. 20%)
  • Knowledge of metal additive manufacturing, machining, heat treatment, and inspection
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001:2015 / AS9100 certified facility
  • Aerospace and Defense experience preferred
  • Experience in reading and interpreting specifications, statements of work, and part drawings
  • Comfortable in a start-up environment
