AM Product Engineering Intern 
 

 

We are looking for a Product Engineering Intern for our Huntersville, NC facility. In this role you will support the development and industrialization of additive manufacturing (AM) systems and workflows for key customer applications. This role is designed to expose the intern to the full process and product development lifecycle — from design for AM and machine baselining to process development and quality control. The intern will contribute to improving repeatability, traceability, and scalability of production processes through targeted projects, technical documentation, and hands-on collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Your Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist with designing and building test rigs, fixtures, and other sub-systems to support internal development projects and key applications.

  • Assist in the writing of standard work instructions and training documents.

  • Participation in data collection and analysis surrounding machine health checks and maintenance.

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to support the development, qualification, and ramp up to series production of AM components.

  • Utilize 3D CAD tools and plastic/metal 3d printing resources to design and manufacture components in support of the points above.

  • Participate in development of semi-automated or repeatable test workflows to improve production reliability.

  • Functioning test rigs or experimental setups with associated documentation.

  • Standard work instructions and training documents.

  • Design files and build documentation for custom fixtures or mechanical components.

  • Validated data and analysis results from process testing or application-specific experiments.

  • Contributions to system-level improvements in traceability, reliability, or automation.

 

Your Profile:

  • Junior/Senior college student enrolled in a Bachelors degree program in Engineering or holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

  • Experience with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.).

  • In compliance with U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

  • Enthusiastic about hands-on problem solving in advanced manufacturing.

  • Understanding of mechatronics.

  • Organized, with attention to detail in both execution and documentation.

  • Capable of analyzing complex technical challenges and proposing solutions.

  • Proficient in technical communication — reports, presentations, documentation.

  • Collaborative and willing to work across disciplines and roles.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to evolving priorities.
