Assistant Center Manager
We are looking for an Assistant Center Manager for our Guelph facility. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the Center Manager in effectively and efficiently managing the day to day operations of the production facility and will act as a back-up to the Center Manager in his/her absence.
Your Responsibilities
The position requires staff management, resources management, compliance and general oversight of the following:
- Operations – understand, operate, and act in a hands-on capacity to process products through our production system using standard processes
- Customer Relations - support Sales and the Center Manager with positive customer interactions. Act as a driving force to achieve customer satisfaction by working with and understanding customer needs. Expedite orders, solve customer complaints, and perform other customer related duties as assigned.
- Quality Systems & Adherence to Standards – supports Quality Principles to maintain our certifications to ISO 9001 and NADCAP standards which promote customer satisfaction and adherence to BHQ production/maintenance standards. Aids Manager in working to establish a well-trained, highly motivated and effective work force.
- Production Scheduling – participate in the development of an effective shift model to meet customer needs; provide input to batch planning, maintenance schedule, etc.
- Labor Management - Assist Center Manager in deployment of on-call resources and all cross-training activity
- Production Technology – understand equipment operation and their applications
- Supervisory Functions – Assist Center Manager in employee development, engagement, performance management and, cross training. Ensure employees are following the Standards as established by BTS and PTT
- HSE responsibility - drive the opened points from audits and promote a safety first culture in the center
- Administrative Duties - Complete employee payroll including efficiency hour reporting as needed, support production facility purchasing activity
- Customer point of contact, supporting with requests and assistance on delivery times or any customer related tasks in the operations process
- Support the Service Team on weekly maintenance schedules including alignment with Sales and Operations to meet customer expectations
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; Experience substitutes
- 1+ years of experience managing people
- 2+ years of experience with managing production outcomes according to customer specifications; Previous Coating industry experience preferred
- Experience working with Manufacturing/ Production environments to deliver products on time
- Experience in metal forming, die casting, plastics industry would be considered an asset
- Progressive management responsibility
- Strong Engineering, Interpersonal and customer service-oriented skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven Record of training employees in safety and production requirements
- Strong working knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
