Technologist 
 

 

We are looking for a  Research & Development Technologist for our Fort Saskatchewan, Canada facility. In this role you will offer assistance in new product development, production support, and product reengineering across laboratory and plant settings, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations.

 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Conduct powder manufacturing and processing
  • Handle metallic, ceramic, and polymeric powders
  • Plan and execute lab and pilot scale tests
  • Evaluate products using established and novel methods
  • Assist in process scale-up and provide plant support
  • Maintain accurate documentation and process data
  • Operate pilot plant scale equipment
  • Prepare samples using Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) system
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed
  • Procure chemicals and parts for lab equipment
  • Responsible for purchasing supplies and materials according to established guidelines and budgets.
  • Make decisions and recommendations within established guidelines and procedures, guided and supported by the R&D Manager and/or R&D Professional.
  • Exercise judgment in determining the most suitable methods to address specific situations, adapting as necessary within the framework of established protocols.
  • Maintain effective communication with OMCA personnel across various departments including Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Sales & Marketing, and Production, fostering collaboration and coordination among team members.

 

Your Profile:

  • Completion of a technical school program (e.g., NAIT or equivalent) in chemistry or materials science is mandatory.
  • At least 2 years of industry experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in general laboratory techniques.
  • Preferred experience in powder manufacturing, processing, and testing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Basic proficiency in Windows-based computer applications, including MS Office.
  • Mechanical aptitude is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a willingness to assist and train others.
