ENGINEER,  Project / Materials / Chemical / Mechanical / Process

 

We are looking for a Process/Project Engineer to join our team at our Fort Saskatchewan facility. We are interested in hearing from candidates with qualifications and experience in Materials, Chemical, Mechanical, Process, and Project Engineering. 

In this role you will work as part of a small Engineering team responsible for a range of activities including Project Management, Continuous Improvement Projects, Process Improvements, and implementing and updating Computerised Management Systems for EHS, Quality, and Maintenance activities.

 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Embrace, comply and promote current Plant Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Policies related to engineering, maintenance, and production operations.
  • Provides strong project management to new and ongoing projects, ensuring a methodical and collaborative approach.
  • Create and manage project proposals and plans, defining timelines and budgets.
  • Provides leadership and project management for process and equipment improvements, leading new installations, and supporting new product launches.
  • Maintain project documentation and records in line with the company’s management systems, including completed project reports.
  • Take ownership of computerised management systems used for EHS, Quality, and Maintenance on the site.
  • Drive a preventative maintenance program through the implementation of a new preventative and reactive maintenance management program.
  • Support the maintenance of equipment files including regular inspections and maintenance as per the applicable codes and standards.
  • Identify and support initiatives for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Liaise with the quality department to lead specific improvement projects.
  • Support quality assurance in conducting investigations and implementing corrective action as part of the engineering team.
  • Provide on-call coverage for the operations team if required.
  • Support operations team in issuing safe work permits if required.

 

 

Your Profile:

  • 5+ years of experience in a continuous manufacturing/process environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Project Management experience
  • Team player eager to work with all stakeholders, gaining buy in and participation
  • Computing skills and experience (Office, PowerBI, SharePoint, Maintenance apps, CAD)
  • Experience with ERP project systems an advantage
  • Registered with APEGA or eligible to register for PEng
  • Experience of LEAN principles is desirable
  • Understanding of quality management systems (e.g. ISO9001) is an asset
