Head of NPI and Engineering
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of NPI & Engineering to lead our rapidly growing Engineering team in our aerospace business company in Hungary and Netherland.
This is an exceptional opportunity to leverage your mechanical engineering or mechatronics engineering background, experience in product development and team management operational management skills and contribute to a company with significant growth potential.
This is a leadership role that requires technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to mentor and inspire team members to deliver high-quality results.
The Head of NPI & Engineering is responsible for the departments NPI (New Product Introduction) and Engineering within the locations Hungary (Debrecen) and the Netherlands (Lomm).
In this role you are responsible for an effective and efficient new part introduction process, from quotation thru production launch, including the engineering support during the production phase. You ensure the process is according to the APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning) process and compliant to Aerospace and Customers’ requirements.
The continuous development of our manufacturing processes, including their eventual automation, is a key area of responsibility to maintain our competitive advantage.
Key Result Areas
- Definition of competitive manufacturing processes making optimum use of capability and capacity of the production locations and of external suppliers. Translation into product cost price and cost of NPI.
- Introduction of new part into production according to project KPI’s (Budget, product cost, milestones plan, cost of non quality)
- Engineering support of production and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
- Definition, implementation and maintenance of department and manufacturing processes compliant with Aerospace and customer and general regulations.
- Definition and implementation of a technology roadmap.
- Definition and implementation of the company strategy as member of the management team.
Responsibilities
- Managing the NPI and Engineering Departments within both locations
- Defining and rolling out the department strategy in line with the strategy of the total organization.
- Creating and maintaining a Technology Roadmap in line with the developments within the market and with the expectations of our customers.
- Ensuring the availability of competent resources within the teams, managing capacity and competences development.
- Ensuring the creation and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives focused on competitiveness and capability improvement.
- Ensuring a safe, healthy and environment-friendly working environment in compliance with Oerlikon Safety & Health standards.
- Defining and managing the department Budget.
Required education, experience, knowledge
- MSc degree in a technical field.
- Minimum 8 years of NPI/Engineering experience in a relevant working environment.
- Broad experience in Manufacturing and NPI preferably in Automotive or Aerospace.
- Experience in an international environment and management on a distance.
- Management experience preferably as member of a management team.
