Customer Service Engineer
Purpose of the role
To operate at the front end of the our business in order to support Oerlikon with customer service support
ensuring the delivery of high levels of satisfaction for its global customers.
This will be achieved through administration support of customer queries, orders and managing concerns
through the appropriate channels.
This role is key to the future operation of the business and is a fundamental activity to generate business,
secure and build relationships with our global customers, and support our internal departments.
Duties & Responsibilities

To provide a ‘best in class’, efficient & responsive service to our global customer base.
· Perform administrative duties to support the full cycle of customer orders from receipt, processing &
loading RFQ’s, customer orders and invoices through IT systems.
· Provide support to others in the generation of quotations in line with market conditions, customer and
business requirements.
· To support in the development of orders and assist with prioritisation of these for the internal business.
· Collate data and feedback to support customer queries and deliver in a timely manner.
· Demand analysis to improve Sales & Operations Planning process.
· Customer liaison & support.
· Utilisation of ERP/MRP systems (Eg. SAP / Syspro) to ensure all customer requests are managed and
processed effectively.
· Inter-departmental communication & support.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external regulations, directives and legislation.
· A structured administrative approach.
Essential:
- Worked in a technical environment from a highly regulated industry: Aerospace (preferable), Automotive, Marine, Defense.
- Must be able to understand engineering and production terminology.
- Have exposure to roles in Customer Service, where support and interaction was provided to customers to deliver products and services.
IT literate – SAP and Microsoft and be able to deliver regular reports
Desirable:
· Have commercial experience with the ability to understand and work to contract requirements.
· Export trade control experience.
· Niche/bespoke mechanical engineering and manufacturing/business experience.
· CAD system awareness/usage
Required skills & expertise
- Qualified in a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subject or suitable experience of industry roles and supported by other qualifications.
- 3 years relevant business experience from roles in technical customer service/engineering/technical companies, eg. aircraft, automotive, mechanical seals, rotating equipment, gaskets, compressors, etc.
- Market sector knowledge should include one or more of the following – aerospace, oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, subsea, marine.
- Exposure to export trade control requirements (eg. ITAR)
