Production Operator II (3rd Shift)

Location: Dayton, Ohio
 

 

Position overview:  Responsible for all pieces produced, handle, transport, load material, operator mechanical production equipment, inspect and pack product, track and record production, and log/record downtime information with an emphasis on quality and efficiency. Great communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with other production personnel are required. Follow company policies and procedures, actively participate in continuous improvement initiates, and engages in the company core values. This position needs to follow HSE and Quality Standards and maintain cleanliness work areas.

Must participate and contribute in ongoing trainings to update and document job related skills, including Core tool (SPC, MSA, APQP, CONTROL PLAN, & PFMEA) as applicable to the position. The supervisors and managers will identify training for each of their respective employees.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs typical machine operations duties to include some machine troubleshooting, quality checks, and finished product labeling in a fast-paced environment.
  • Responsible to ensure all quality standards are met on all pieces produced.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor/lead, and/or quality.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Clocks in and out per shift requirements and lunch scheduling.
  • Maintains attendance within company guidelines, starts work on time, works assigned schedule to include overtime.
  • Communicates clearly with all co-workers and supervision.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team.
  • Must satisfy all quality standards and quality processes.
  • Must conform to current health, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to perform daily equipment cleaning, making minor adjustments as trained to perform on assigned production equipment as necessary to maintain and enhance production of quality parts in an efficient fashion.
  • Related skills include set-up for production on the press, job prioritizing and sequencing.
  • Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasts stated above.
  • Able to perform basic set-ups on these machines and tools that are used in them.
  • Ensure own safety and the safety of others by following all safety regulations.
  • Conforms to and stays abreast of company policies.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Inspects parts visually, or with gages, according to procedures, to verify conformance to specification.
  • Must be able to perform necessary computer functions for the job.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Commits to the corporate core values, goals, mission and vision.
  • High School graduate or GED or equivalent experience.
  • Able to do prolong standing 9+ hours or more.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to  walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  Good dexterity, attention to fine details, and depth perception to enable detail hand coordination. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 50 to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,     peripheral vision, depth perception, hand eye coordination and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Manufacturing experience would be advantageous.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills to include basic understanding of Microsoft Office, Excel spreadsheets and Access database to complete end of day reports.

  • A positive attitude and willingness to work overtime when required.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
  • Any persons wearing a medical device that regulate heart rhythms (pacemakers, etc.) are not authorized to run Heat Treat Equipment.
